    Proto-Lab BH 126

Here are descriptions of the primary equipment in the Proto-Lab.
    Kern Micro 48

    Kern Micro 48

The Kern Micro 48 is a 100W laser with a 24in by 48in cut area. We can cut most woods, some plastics, and most fabrics.

Fees: There is a $2 setup fee to use the laser, and a $5/hour cutting fee (based on the time estimate in the K7 software).

File Format: One of the easiest file formats for cutting to use is the .ai (Adobe Illustrator) format. You can save drawings from Solidworks as .ai files directly.

    OMAX 2626 Waterjet

    OMAX 2626 Waterjet

The waterjet uses a high pressure (55ksi+) water stream to cut through materials up to six inches thick. The cut area is approximately 24in by 24in. Most any material can be cut by the waterjet, although keep in mind that the material will be submerged in water during the cutting process.

Fees: There is a $2 setup fee to use the waterjet, and a $0.40/pound consumables fee.

File Format: The best file format is .dxf which can be created in Solidworks drawing.
